Cameras will be allowed to take still photos, but no media video or audio coverage is approved for Tyler Robinson’s next court hearing in the Charlie Kirk murder case, a Utah judge ruled.

Fourth District Judge Tony Graf confirmed an earlier order letting the Deseret News photograph the Oct. 23 trial-setting hearing in Provo. “No media video or audio coverage was requested or is authorized by this order,” the judge wrote, according to The Post Millennial, which published the order.

Remote access for Erika Kirk

Graf approved a request from defense attorney Michael Burt to attend remotely. The order also says “Erika Kirk, her attorney, or both may attend remotely.”

“This remote-access authorization does not permit media broadcasting or recording,” the order states. Those attending online will join through a court-approved platform.

Where the case stands

Robinson, 23, is charged with aggravated murder in the Sept. 10, 2025, shooting of Kirk at Utah Valley University. He also faces six other counts, including witness tampering and obstruction of justice.

Graf ordered him to stand trial on all seven counts on Sept. 1, and Robinson pleaded not guilty, the Deseret News reported. Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty.

Coverage of the case has been debated in court before. Graf allowed cameras at Robinson’s preliminary hearing, and its final day was livestreamed.
