A single ticket sold at a Wegmans supermarket in Montvale, New Jersey, won Wednesday night’s $847 million Powerball jackpot, the New Jersey Lottery said.
The winning numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53 and 56, with a red Powerball of 21. The Power Play multiplier was 2.
The prize is the ninth-largest in Powerball history. The winner can take it as 30 payments over 29 years or as a one-time cash payment of about $363.1 million, both before taxes.
The winner has not come forward. Officials urged players to check their tickets.
“We are excited to meet the winner soon,” New Jersey Lottery Executive Director James Carey said. He called the prize “another great record for New Jersey.”
The store received a $30,000 bonus for selling the ticket. Store manager Nick Tassi said the money will go to the Community Food Bank of New Jersey. “We are in the middle of our Check Out Hunger campaign, and we are going to donate the check directly to that campaign,” he said.
In Montvale, the news spread fast. “My phone has been nonstop, and suddenly people are calling their friends seeing if they played the lottery,” Mayor Mike Ghassali said.
The win came less than three months after a ticket in Illinois won a $1.04 billion Powerball jackpot on Aug. 12. The two prizes now rank eighth and ninth on the game’s all-time list.
More than 1 million other tickets won smaller cash prizes on Wednesday, including 29 that matched four white balls and the Powerball for $50,000 or $100,000.
Winners in New Jersey have one year from the draw to claim their prize. The jackpot resets to $20 million for Saturday’s drawing.
