The U.S. Treasury Department said new paper currency will carry President Donald Trump’s signature as part of changes tied to the country’s 250th anniversary.
Officials said the first $100 notes featuring Trump’s signature alongside Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will begin printing in June, with other denominations expected to follow in the coming months.
The update will remove the long-standing signature of the Treasurer of the United States from bills, while keeping all other design elements unchanged, according to officials.
Current notes in circulation will continue to carry the signatures of previous officials, including former Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, until they are gradually replaced through standard issuance.
Treasury officials said federal law allows modifications to currency features for security and design purposes, while maintaining requirements such as the use of historical figures and mandated inscriptions.
Authorities said the rollout will be monitored as part of broader preparations for the anniversary, with further updates expected as production expands.
