Ukraine said its forces struck a major Russian military factory that produces electronics used in missiles, according to a statement from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Zelensky said the target was the Kremniy EL plant in Russia’s Bryansk region, describing it as one of the country’s key facilities producing components used in missiles that have been launched at Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
Ukraine’s military said the strike was carried out using British-supplied Storm Shadow missiles.
Russian officials confirmed the strike but said it caused civilian casualties. Authorities in Bryansk reported six people killed and 42 injured, describing the attack as a “terrorist missile strike.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the missiles could not have been launched without assistance from British specialists.
The strike comes as the war continues with both sides carrying out attacks despite ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Ukrainian officials said new talks involving Russian and U.S. representatives could take place soon as Washington attempts to push negotiations aimed at ending the conflict.
