Residents of Tehran say they experienced the “worst night” of Israeli airstrikes so far as explosions shook parts of the Iranian capital while Iran launched retaliatory attacks toward Israel.
People in several neighborhoods reported continuous blasts, with smoke rising over parts of the city after Israeli strikes targeted government, security and military facilities.
Iranian officials say more than 220 sites in Tehran have been hit during the campaign, which has focused on military infrastructure and command centers.
Some residents described windows shaking and loud explosions lasting through the night. Others said the intensity of the bombardment was far greater than earlier attacks since the conflict escalated. The strikes are part of the wider Israeli-U.S. military campaign against Iran that began in late February.
At the same time, Iran launched missiles and drones toward Israel, with warning sirens sounding in cities including Tel Aviv as air defenses attempted to intercept incoming projectiles.
Previous Iranian strikes during the conflict have already caused casualties and damage inside Israel.
The fighting has intensified rapidly in recent days, with heavy exchanges of air and missile attacks across the region.
Iranian authorities say hundreds of people have been killed and thousands injured in the bombardment, while Israel says it is continuing operations aimed at weakening Iran’s military and security structure.
The escalating strikes have heightened fears of a wider regional war, as both sides continue launching attacks and preparing for further military operations.
