Spain has formally rejected the recent U.S. and Israeli military strikes on Iran, with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez calling the action unilateral and urging an immediate return to diplomacy, according to official government statements .

Speaking after the strikes, Sánchez said Spain does not support military steps taken outside broader international consensus and warned that escalation could further destabilize the Middle East.

He emphasized the need for dialogue and respect for international law, aligning Spain with several European Union partners advocating restraint .

Spain’s Foreign Ministry echoed the prime minister’s remarks, urging all sides to avoid further military confrontation and to prioritize diplomatic channels.

Madrid has consistently backed negotiated solutions concerning Iran’s nuclear program and regional security tensions.

The response comes as European governments assess the security implications of the strikes and potential retaliation.

Spain said it will continue coordinating with EU allies and international partners to prevent further escalation and protect regional stability.

Officials did not announce additional measures but stressed that diplomacy remains the only viable path to reduce tensions and avoid a broader conflict.
