A seventh U.S. service member has died from injuries sustained during attacks carried out by Iran-backed forces across the Middle East.
Officials said the soldier had been critically wounded on March 1 during an attack targeting American troops in Saudi Arabia.
The death raises the number of U.S. military personnel killed during Operation Epic Fury to seven. Earlier in the week, the Pentagon confirmed that six U.S. service members were killed in a drone strike in Kuwait that hit a fortified operations center at the port of Shuaiba.
Those killed in the Kuwait attack were identified as Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, Sgt. Declan Coady, Capt. Cody Khork, Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien, and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan. All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command, an Army Reserve unit, and were supporting the 1st Theater Sustainment Command at the time of the strike.
Operation Epic Fury began on March 1 with coordinated U.S. and Israeli strikes targeting Iran’s military command structure.
Iran later launched retaliatory attacks across the region, with U.S. forces targeted in Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
