A report by CBS News says 89 hospice care providers in Los Angeles County were registered to the same building address, raising concerns about possible fraud in the region’s healthcare system.
According to the report, the unusually high number of hospice companies listed at a single location has drawn attention from regulators and investigators examining potential abuse of the Medicare hospice program, which provides end-of-life care services funded by the federal government.

Officials said the registrations may indicate companies that exist largely on paper while billing Medicare for services. Authorities are reviewing licensing records and payment data as part of broader efforts to detect fraudulent activity in the hospice industry.
Investigators have been examining hospice providers across California in recent years after reports of suspicious billing practices and unusually rapid growth in the sector.
The findings reported by CBS have intensified calls for stronger oversight and stricter licensing rules.
