Marjorie Taylor Greene criticizes Trump over Texas Senate runoff demand

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene sharply criticized President Donald Trump after he suggested one of the candidates in the Texas Republican Senate runoff should withdraw once he announces his endorsement.

The runoff will determine the GOP nominee between Sen. John Cornyn and Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after neither candidate secured a majority in the primary.

Trump said he plans to endorse one of them soon and argued the race should end quickly so Republicans can focus on defeating the Democratic nominee.

“Trump now says he is going to endorse either [Sen. John] Cornyn or [Texas Attorney General Ken] Paxton and demands that whoever does not get his endorsement must drop out of the runoff.

This is wrong and the people of Texas should be able to vote for WHOEVER THEY WANT!!! NOT the candidate Trump demands,” Greene wrote on X.

She added: “People are furious over this and if Trump does this, it could actually be the real reason Texas Senate seat flips blue.”

Trump defended his position on Truth Social, writing that the Republican contest “cannot, for the good of the Party, and our Country, itself, be allowed to go on any longer.”

“IT MUST STOP NOW! We have an easy to beat, Radical Left Opponent, and we have to TOTALLY FOCUS on putting him away, quickly and decisively!” he added.
