Israeli airstrikes hit several oil storage facilities in and around Tehran, sending large fires and thick smoke into the sky as the war between Israel and Iran entered its second week, according to international reports.
The strikes targeted multiple fuel depots and oil infrastructure in the Iranian capital and nearby areas, marking one of the first times energy facilities in Tehran have been hit during the conflict.
Iranian authorities said at least several sites were damaged as emergency crews worked to control the fires.
At the same time, Bahrain reported that an Iranian drone strike damaged a desalination plant that supplies drinking water, the country’s Interior Ministry said.
Officials described “material damage” to the facility and reported several injuries from falling debris.
The exchange of strikes highlights the widening regional impact of the war, with infrastructure targets now being hit across multiple countries in the Gulf.
Desalination plants are critical to the region’s water supply, raising concerns about humanitarian and economic consequences if such facilities continue to be targeted.
