House Democrats on Monday announced the first 12 candidates in the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” program, targeting competitive GOP-held districts as the party pushes to reclaim the House majority in November.

The list includes Marine Corps veteran JoAnna Mendoza in Arizona’s 6th District, former Iowa state Rep. Christina Bohannan in Iowa’s 1st District, Henrico Commonwealth’s Attorney Shannon Taylor in Virginia’s 1st District, and former Rep. Elaine Luria in Virginia’s 2nd District.

Several of the candidates previously ran in 2024 and are making another bid.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene said the party is “on offense” and argued the candidates will focus on lowering costs, protecting health care and supporting working families.

The committee’s program provides additional funding, data and organizational support to campaigns in battleground districts.

Republicans currently hold a narrow 218–214 House majority, leaving little room for defections. Democrats see a favorable political environment as they look to flip key seats in 2026, with recent special election results boosting confidence inside the party.
