Explosions were reported across Tehran after Israel said it had begun a “wide-scale wave of airstrikes” targeting infrastructure linked to the Iranian government, according to statements from the Israeli military and international media reports.
The Israeli army said the strikes were aimed at what it described as “regime infrastructure” in the Iranian capital, though officials did not immediately provide details about the specific targets or possible casualties.
Residents in several parts of Tehran reported loud blasts and smoke rising over parts of the city as the attacks unfolded, marking another escalation in the conflict between Israel and Iran.
The strikes come amid an expanding regional war that began with large-scale U.S. and Israeli operations against Iranian targets earlier in the conflict.
Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks against Israel and regional sites linked to U.S. forces.
Analysts say the latest round of strikes signals that both sides are preparing for a prolonged confrontation, with attacks continuing across multiple fronts in the Middle East.
