The Trump administration has ended its investigation into former President Joe Biden’s alleged use of an autopen for official documents, concluding there are no criminal charges to pursue.

Officials said the review examined claims that Biden may have improperly used an autopen, a device that replicates a person’s signature, during his time in office. After reviewing available evidence, investigators determined there was no basis for criminal prosecution.

Autopen devices have been used by multiple U.S. presidents for decades to sign certain documents, particularly when the president is traveling or unable to sign in person.

The practice has previously been reviewed by legal authorities and has generally been considered permissible for routine government actions.

The administration did not provide additional details about the scope of the investigation but confirmed the matter is now closed.
