The White House says a large red spot visible on President Donald Trump’s neck is the result of a skin cream he is using as a preventative treatment, but officials did not disclose what condition it is meant to treat.
“President Trump is using a very common cream on the right side of his neck, which is a preventative skin treatment, prescribed by the White House Doctor,” said Dr. Sean Barbabella, the president’s physician. “The President is using this treatment for one week, and the redness is expected to last for a few weeks.”
The redness attracted attention during a Medal of Honor ceremony at the White House, where news photographers captured close-up images of the mark on Trump’s neck. The White House did not provide details on the exact name of the cream, when the treatment began, or what specific issue it was intended to prevent.
Official medical records from Trump’s April 2025 physical note he used mometasone cream as needed for an unspecified skin condition, but the current treatment was described only as a “preventative” application.
Because Trump is 79 and the oldest president in U.S. history, his health continues to draw attention and scrutiny from both the public and political observers.
